Mighty Oaks Baseball Tops Ocean CC, 15-4
Toms River, NJ. – The Salem Community College baseball team bats came alive in the opening game of a three game series with Ocean County College Friday. The Mighty Oaks tallied 19 hits in the seven inning contest to take the opener 15-4.
On offense, Jacob Roberts and Ryan Dipper led Salem both with four hits on the day. While Nick Toms, Phil Sedalis and Dakota Rowan all contributed with home runs.
"We've been working hard as a team on our approach at the plate", said Head Coach John Holt. "We have a long way to go but we definitely made some strides today in where we want to be as a team."
On the bump the pitching was solid holding Ocean to just 4 runs on the day. Sean Cocuzza went five innings striking out eight. Sean Broadhurst came in relief with two shutout innings out of the pen.
The series will conclude Saturday when the Vikings travel to Salem for a double header. First pitch at 12:00 at the Carneys Point Rec.
