Salem Stays Perfect, Defeats Ocean County 100-78
CARNEYS POINT, NJ. - The top-ranked Salem Community College men's basketball team continued its historic run on Wednesday night, defeating Ocean County College 100-78 to remain unbeaten at 15-0 on the season.
With the victory, the Salem Mighty Oaks further cemented their status as the No. 1 ranked team in the country, showcasing their depth, efficiency, and balance on both ends of the floor.
Salem was led by a trio of standout performances from its starting lineup. Saaid Lee paced all scorers with 25 points, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double while shooting 9-of-13 from the field. Jarrell Little followed closely with 24 points on an efficient 10-of-16 shooting, knocking down three three-pointers and contributing across the stat sheet.
Zyaire Gibson delivered another strong all-around performance, finishing with 20 points while connecting on five shots from beyond the arc. Nasseem Wright contributed in multiple ways, recording 10 rebounds and nine assists to go along with six points, while Stefan Phillips added nine points and seven rebounds in limited minutes.
Salem's bench provided valuable contributions as well, with Idris Rines scoring eight points and pulling down eight rebounds, while Jahseir Sayles and Quade'air Smith each chipped in four points.
Beyond the scoreline, the night marked a significant milestone for the Mighty Oaks' coaching staff, as the win represented the 50th victory at Salem Community College for Head Coach Mike Green and Assistant Coach Scooter Wilkerson.
The Mighty Oaks will look to keep their perfect season intact when they travel to Sussex County Community College on Saturday, December 20, with tipoff scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
