Mighty Oaks Stay Perfect: Salem Defeats RCSJ-Cumberland 99–73
Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College men's basketball team continued its historic season on Wednesday night with a dominant 99–73 victory over RCSJ-Cumberland. With the win, the Salem Mighty Oaks remain undefeated at 19–0 and solidify their status as the No. 1 ranked team in the NJCAA.
Salem controlled the game from start to finish, using balanced scoring, strong defensive pressure, and depth to pull away from Cumberland. The Mighty Oaks shared the ball effectively and capitalized on opportunities on both ends of the floor, building a comfortable lead and never looking back.
Jarrell Little finished with 13 points, six rebounds, and five assists, while Saaid Lee added 15 points, six rebounds, and seven assists to pace the offense. Zyaire Gibson provided a spark with 14 points on four three-pointers, and Nasseem Wright chipped in 13 points, six rebounds, and two steals. Stefan Phillips rounded out the starting lineup with five points and four rebounds.
Salem's depth once again proved to be a difference-maker. Quade'air Smith scored 11 points and added three assists, while Nayeem Johnson posted 12 points and eight rebounds off the bench. Jaiayre Wright contributed nine points, Idris Rines pulled down 10 rebounds, and Jahseir Sayles added three points. Michael Goodwin also saw action as Salem emptied the bench late.
With another convincing performance, the Mighty Oaks continue to roll through their schedule and build momentum heading into a marquee matchup.
Salem will travel to Northampton Community College to face the No. 5 team in the country on Thursday, January 15, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
