#1 Ranked Mighty Oaks Top Atlantic Cape
Carney's Point, NJ – The Salem Community College Mighty Oaks kept their record a perfect 23-0 after picking up a big win against Atlantic Cape 101-88. The scorer for Salem was Nayeem Johnson off the bench, who picked up 20 points on 7-12 shooting, along with four rebounds.
Overall, the top performer for the Mighty Oaks was Nasseem Wright, who picked up his first collegiate triple double in the game with 14 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists. Wright also had a huge performance on the defensive side of the ball, with three steals and four blocks. Four other Mighty Oaks picked up double digit scoring, as Jarrell Little (18 points), Saaid Lee (16 points), Zyaire Gibson (12 points), and Idris Rines (11 points) all posted double digit scoring stat-lines.
The Mighty Oaks led for majority of the contest, and up until the five minute mark in the second half, it was a comfortable lead. Atlantic Cape was able to tie it up at 81 a piece with 4:34 left in the game, but a couple of big threes from Rines and Little would put the game out of reach.
The Mighty Oaks remain perfect, and look to stay perfect at home against the Community College of Philadelphia on January 27, at 7 p.m.
