Mighty Oaks Roll Past Luzerne County, Improve to 23–1 with 106–68 Victory
Nanticoke, PA - The Salem Community College men's basketball team delivered another dominant performance on the hardwood, rolling past Luzerne County Community College 106–68 to continue its outstanding season. With the win, the Salem Mighty Oaks improve to 23–1 overall, reinforcing their position as one of the top teams in the country.
Salem set the tone early with an up-tempo offense and relentless defensive pressure, building a commanding lead and never looking back. The Mighty Oaks showcased their depth and balance, as multiple players contributed across the stat sheet in the convincing victory.
Nasseem Wright led all scorers with 24 points, shooting an efficient 9-of-14 from the floor and a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line, while also adding nine rebounds and five assists. Stefan Phillips chipped in 13 points and six rebounds, and Jarrell Little added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
The bench played a major role in the blowout, highlighted by Nayeem Johnson, who poured in 16 points, and Jahseir Sayles, who finished with 12 points and three rebounds. Salem's reserves maintained the pace and intensity, ensuring there was no letup as the lead continued to grow.
With another impressive win in the books, Salem now turns its attention to its next home matchup. The Mighty Oaks will host Montgomery County Community College on February 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the DuPont Fieldhouse on the campus of Salem Community College.
