Mighty Oaks Roll Past City College of Philadelphia, Improve to 26-1
Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College men's basketball team continued its dominant season on Saturday afternoon, cruising to a convincing 100-67 victory over the City College of Philadelphia. With the win, the Salem Mighty Oaks improved their record to an impressive 26-1 on the season, showcasing their depth, balance, and defensive intensity from start to finish.
Salem set the tone early, pushing the pace on offense while locking in defensively to build a comfortable lead that only grew as the game went on. Five starters finished in double figures, highlighting a team-first effort that has become the hallmark of this Mighty Oaks squad.
Jarrell Little led the way with an all-around performance, finishing with 20 points, 12 rebounds, and 9 assists while shooting 9-of-14 from the field. Idris Rines was nearly automatic, scoring 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting, while also adding four rebounds and four assists. Nayeem Johnson provided a big spark off the bench, pouring in 18 points and knocking down three three-pointers.
Nasseem Wright stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, 11 rebounds, and 9 assists, narrowly missing a triple-double, while Zyaire Gibson chipped in 14 points and six rebounds. Saaid Lee added nine points and four rebounds, contributing on both ends of the floor.
Salem's bench continued to play an important role, with Johnson, Quade'air Smith, and Jahseir Sayles providing energy and production in key stretches as the Mighty Oaks maintained control throughout the second half.
The Mighty Oaks will look to keep the momentum going as they return home to host Union College of New Jersey on Tuesday, February 10. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Salem Community College.
