#1 Seed Mighty Oaks Move On to Final Four After Defeating #8 Ocean 80-60
Carney's Point, NJ – The #1 seed Mighty Oaks were able to use a huge second half burst to push past #8 seed Ocean 80-60. Salem went into halftime 34-33 after turning the ball over 11 times as a team and shooting 14-36 from the field. Ocean was able to convert those turnovers into points, and only turned the ball over three times themselves. However, the Mighty Oaks came out fighting in the second half, and the team never ran out of energy.
By far the most packed the DuPont Fieldhouse has been for a Mighty Oaks basketball game this season, the fans backed up Salem as they would go on a 31-10 run in the final 11 minutes of the game.
For the Mighty Oaks, Jarrell Little led the way on the offensive side of the ball, scoring 19 points to go along with eight rebounds and six assists. Nasseem Wright posted a double-double on the night, with 18 points and 10 rebounds and a couple of big dunks. Saaid Lee and Nayeem Johnson were big impacts on the defensive side, with Lee notching four steals, along with 10 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Off the bench, Johnson had three steals to pair with seven points.
The Mighty Oaks will play at Northampton Community College on Saturday at 3 p.m. for the Region 19 and North District A Titles. The Mighty Oaks opponent will be the winner of Montgomery/Camden County.
