The Mighty Oaks Suffer Tough Loss to Vikings

Pitman, NJ. – After a scoreless first half, Ocean County College scored the lone goal of the match at the 55 minute mark in the second half, putting the Vikings ahead for good in a 1 – 0 Salem loss.

Going into the match, both Ocean and Salem were receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division 3 Men's Soccer poll.

Ocean improves their record to 5-1 in Region 19 play, and 7-1 overall. The Mighty Oaks fall to 3-3 in the Region and 4-3 overall. Salem's other two losses came at the hands of #5 Camden County College and #9 Sussex County Community College.

Mateus Lopes De Silva had a solid day in goal, making 6 saves on 7 Ocean shots.

The Mighty Oaks have a quick turnaround, as they will be back in action at home Thursday October 7, 2021 when they will face off against the Rowan College of South Jersey Gloucester Roadrunners at the Total Turf Experience in Pitman NJ. Kickoff is at 2:45PM.
