Mighty Oaks Men’s Soccer Drop Season Opener
Edison, NJ. – The Salem Community College men's soccer team fell in their September 8th season opener to Middlesex Community College 1-0.
The Mighty Oaks got off to a solid start but allowed the lone goal of the game with just 16 minutes left in the first half. Salem keeper Mateus Silva was strong between the pipes shutting out Middlesex in second half.
Salem Head Coach Matt Murray is optimistic his team will rebound and get better in the loss.
"Tough way to start off the season" said Murray. "We'll learn from our mistakes and we hope to rebound Saturday at home".
The Mighty Oaks are back in action Saturday at home when they will open their new playing venue located at 10 Freed Rd. in Pedricktown. Salem will host Bergen County College, following a ceremony that will officially open the facility for the season.
