Men’s Soccer Tops No. 7 Northampton
Pedricktown, NJ. – The Salem Community College men's soccer team upset No. 7 Northampton Community College in dominant fashion shutting out the Spartans 4-0 in Region 19 play. With the win the Mighty Oaks improve to 5-4 for on the season as they continue to make a push towards post season play.
Jardel Sinclair lead the way once again with two goals scored on the day. Sinclair got the Mighty Oaks on the board, finding the back of the net twenty minutes into the first half. Salem took the 1-0 lead into halftime.
SCC wasted no time getting the scoring started in the second half when Patrick Oliveira scored just three minutes into the half. Oliveira also had an assist on the day to add to his team leading total of seven on the season. Francisco Neto added to the scoring with his first goal of the season making it 3-0. Sinclair finished the scoring on the day for the Mighty Oaks with his team leading ninth goal of the season, making it 4-0 in favor of SCC.
The Salem defense was superb in shutting down the Northampton offense. Between the pipes Mateus Silva earned his second shutout of the season with seven saves on the day. Silva has only allowed one goal in the last three matches.
The Mighty Oaks have a quick turn around has they continue their homestand hosting the County College of Morris Saturday, October 8. Kick off will be at 1:00PM at the home of Mighty Oaks soccer located at 10 Freed Road in Pedricktown.
