RVCC tops Salem at Home
Pedricktown, NJ. - The Salem Community College men's soccer team suffered a tough loss to Region 19 opponent Raritan Valley Community College, 3-1. With the loss the Mighty Oaks move to 7-6 on the season overall.
Raritan got on the board first with a goal at the twenty-five minute mark of the first half. The Mighty Oaks answered back on a beautiful goal by John Schmid with just a little over nine minutes left before the end of the first half of play.
The match started the second half tied, but did not remain that way for long. Less than five minutes into the second half the Lions took the lead on a penalty kick. RVCC added on to their lead scoring the game's final goal shortly after with thirty-seven minutes left in regulation. The Mighty Oaks could not muster much offense and could not find the back of the net the rest of the day.
Salem will finish up the regular season when they host Brookdale Community College Monday, October 17, at the home of Mighty Oaks Soccer located at 10 Freed Road in Pedricktown, NJ. Kickoff is at 3:30PM. Salem has already qualified for the Region 19 tourament
