Mighty Oaks Sweep Monroe University Bronx, Improve to 4-2 on Season
Pennsville, NJ. - The Salem Community College softball team put together an explosive offensive performance on Saturday, sweeping a doubleheader from Monroe University Bronx to improve to 4-2 on the season.
The Mighty Oaks' bats were on full display across both games as Salem combined for 33 runs in the sweep while receiving strong pitching performances in the circle.
Game One: Salem 17, Monroe Bronx 2
Salem opened the doubleheader with a dominant 17-2 victory behind a balanced offensive attack and a solid outing from pitcher Raegan Wilson.
The Mighty Oaks collected nine hits and drew 14 walks, turning patience at the plate into a steady stream of runs.
Lilly Peverelle led the offense with two hits and three RBIs, while Jaylene Aguirre delivered a big game with two hits, including a double, and four RBIs. Bella Rappa added two hits and three RBIs, and Emme Witter contributed a hit, two runs scored, and two RBIs.
Savannah Palverento tripled and scored a run, while Chantelle Haskie and Megan Koski each drove in runs to help power the Salem lineup.
At the top of the order, Jalyn Rambally was a spark plug, scoring four runs and stealing a base.
In the circle, Raegan Wilson earned the win, tossing five innings while allowing five hits and two runs (none earned). Wilson struck out two and issued just one walk to keep Monroe's offense in check.
Game Two: Salem 16, Monroe Bronx 0
The Mighty Oaks continued their offensive surge in game two, rolling to a 16-0 victory to complete the sweep.
Salem once again showed excellent discipline at the plate, drawing 15 walks while adding timely hits to capitalize on scoring opportunities.
Jaylene Aguirre highlighted the game with a massive performance, going 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBIs. Jalyn Rambally continued her strong day with two hits, four runs scored, and two RBIs, while Emme Witter added two RBIs and three runs scored.
Additional run production came from Sawyer Simmons, Kasen Ervin, Megan Koski, and Bella Rappa, as the Mighty Oaks spread the offense throughout the lineup.
In the circle, Jordyn Busch was dominant, earning the win with three hitless innings while striking out five. Savannah Palverento closed out the game with two hitless innings and two strikeouts, completing the combined shutout.
The Mighty Oaks return to action quickly as they host Harford Community College in a doubleheader on Monday, March 9. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
Salem will look to carry its offensive momentum into the matchup as the team continues to build on a strong early-season start.
