Mighty Oaks Softball Return from Spring Break with 8–4 Record After Offensive Explosion
Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College softball team returned home from its Spring Break trip with plenty of momentum, compiling an 8–4 overall record after a stretch that featured dominant offensive performances and four straight victories.
The trip began with a scheduling setback as the Mighty Oaks were forced to cancel a scheduled doubleheader against Frederick Community College due to weather conditions. Once play resumed, Salem wasted little time finding its rhythm, sweeping a pair of doubleheaders against Chesapeake College and Anne Arundel Community College.
Salem Sweeps Chesapeake College
Salem opened the action with a 13–3 victory over Chesapeake College in game one.
The Mighty Oaks offense was explosive from the start, collecting 12 hits in the five-inning win. Emme Witter led the charge with a massive performance, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two doubles, and five RBIs while scoring three runs. Bella Rappa also had a perfect day at the plate, finishing 3-for-3 with two RBIs and a triple, while Jalyn Rambally added two hits and scored twice.
Additional RBIs came from Megan Koski (2), Tiana Wilson, and Lilly Peverelle, as Salem used aggressive base running to apply pressure. Rappa, Jaylene Aguirre (2), Ava Ortiz, and Rambally (3) all recorded stolen bases in the win.
In the circle, Jordyn Busch delivered a dominant outing, striking out 12 batters over five innings to earn the victory.
Salem continued its offensive momentum in game two with a 16–7 victory.
Witter once again powered the offense, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs, including two doubles and a home run. Rappa also stayed hot, finishing 3-for-3 with four RBIs, while Jaylene Aguirre drove in two runs and Jalyn Rambally contributed three RBIs.
Salem drew eight walks and collected 10 hits, creating constant scoring opportunities.
In the circle, Raegan Wilson started the game before Emme Witter entered in relief to earn the win.
Mighty Oaks Dominate Anne Arundel
Salem's offense reached another level in the next doubleheader, sweeping Anne Arundel Community College by scores of 16–6 and 27–4.
In game one, Jalyn Rambally delivered a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and five RBIs to pace the Mighty Oaks. Lilly Peverelle added four hits and two RBIs, while Megan Koski drove in two runs.
Salem totaled 15 hits in the game as Jordyn Busch went the distance in the circle, striking out eight over seven innings to earn the victory.
The Mighty Oaks offense erupted even further in game two, posting 27 runs on 19 hits.
Peverelle led the hit parade with four hits and three RBIs, while Rambally scored four runs and collected two hits. Emme Witter continued her big week with three hits and four RBIs, while Megan Koski drove in four runs of her own.
Salem received RBIs from throughout the lineup, including Jocelyn Melendez (3), Jaylene Aguirre (2), Jordyn Busch (4), Bella Rappa, Kasen Ervin, and Jolee Robinson.
Raegan Wilson picked up the win in the circle, allowing four runs while striking out six over five innings.
After a productive Spring Break trip highlighted by explosive offense and strong pitching performances, the Mighty Oaks now return home with an 8–4 record on the season.
Salem will look to continue its winning momentum when the team hosts Bucks County Community College on Friday, March 20. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM.
