Georgetown, DE. - The Salem Community College softball team split a Region 19 doubleheader on the road against Delaware Technical Community College, falling 17-0 in game one before bouncing back with a strong 9-6 victory in game two.
Game One: Delaware Tech Pulls Away Early
Game one proved to be a tough outing for the Mighty Oaks, as Delaware Tech capitalized early and often in a 17-0 result.
Salem managed just two hits in the contest, coming from Savannah Palverento and Jaylene Aguirre. The offense struggled to find rhythm against Delaware Tech pitching, striking out nine times.
In the circle, Raegan Wilson took the loss, moving to 4-1 on the season, while Palverento came on in relief. Despite the setback, Salem quickly regrouped heading into the second game of the twin bill.
Game Two: Salem Responds with 9-6 Win
The Mighty Oaks showed resilience in game two, using a balanced offensive attack and a complete game in the circle to secure a 9-6 victory.
Lilly Peverelle led the way, scoring three runs while collecting two hits and drawing two walks. Savannah Palverento added two hits and two RBI, while Emme Witter delivered a big performance with two RBI and a sacrifice fly.
Jaylene Aguirre reached base three times, scored twice, and added a double, while Jalyn Rambally contributed a hit, an RBI, and a stolen base. Salem's offense totaled 13 hits and 10 walks, consistently applying pressure throughout the game.
On the basepaths, the Mighty Oaks remained aggressive, with Chantelle Haskie swiping two bases and additional steals from Rambally and Peverelle.
In the circle, Jordyn Busch was outstanding, throwing a complete game to improve to 6-2 on the season. Busch allowed six runs while striking out nine, battling through traffic and shutting the door when it mattered most.
Salem will look to build off the game two victory as they travel to Raritan Valley Community College on Tuesday, March 24 for another Region 19 doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
