Pennsville, NJ. - The Salem Community College softball team delivered one of its most dominant performances of the season, sweeping a doubleheader against the County College of Morris by scores of 29-0 and 17-3. With the two wins, the Mighty Oaks improve to 13-7 on the season.
Game One: Salem 29, Morris 0
It was an offensive onslaught from the very first inning as Salem plated 29 runs on 12 hits while drawing an incredible 16 walks. The Mighty Oaks capitalized on nearly every opportunity, showcasing patience at the plate and aggressive baserunning throughout.
Savannah Palverento led the charge with four RBIs, two runs scored, and a stolen base. Jaylene Aguirre matched that production with four RBIs of her own, while Tiana Wilson and Bella Rappa each drove in three runs.
Lilly Peverelle had a standout performance, scoring four runs while adding a double and two RBIs. Pahola Chavez and Ava Ortiz each recorded multi-hit games, combining for four hits and three RBIs.
In the circle, Raegan Wilson was dominant, tossing three hitless innings with four strikeouts to earn the win and improve to 5-2 on the season. Savannah Palverento closed things out with two scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out four to complete the shutout.
Game Two: Salem 17, Morris 3
The Mighty Oaks carried their momentum into game two, scoring 17 runs on 11 hits to complete the sweep.
Jordyn Busch sparked the offense with a triple and two RBIs, while Lilly Peverelle added a home run and two RBIs in another strong showing. Savannah Palverento continued her big day with two more RBIs, and Sawyer Simmons contributed three hits, including a double, and an RBI.
Additional run production came from Kasen Ervin (two RBIs), Pahola Chavez, and Jaylene Aguirre, as Salem once again showed its depth from top to bottom in the lineup.
Emme Witter earned the win in the circle, going four innings and allowing three runs while striking out five to move to 2-1 on the year. Jordyn Busch pitched a scoreless final inning to secure the victory.
The Mighty Oaks will look to keep their hot streak alive when they travel to face Lackawanna College on March 31 for another doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 PM.
