Carneys Point, NJ. – The Salem Community College women's basketball team dropped a tough Region 19 match up to Raritan Valley Community College, 79-63. The Mighty Oaks took a 1-point lead in the first quarter with a buzzer beater by Ray'Nescia King, but were unable to overcome a rough fourth quarter that had the Mighty Oaks outscored 25 to 12.
Nyaijah Jackson led the Mighty Oaks in scoring with 14 points while going 4 for 7 from the field and 6 for 8 from the free throw line. Akira Chambers had a strong all-around game scoring 10 points with 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.
With the loss the Mighty Oaks drop to 3-4 on the season. Salem will be back in action on Thursday December 12 when they will host Bucks County Community College in non-conference play. Tip of is slated for 5:00 at the DuPont Fieldhouse.
