Salem Community College Women Falls to Mercer County, 89–39
Trenton, NJ. - The Salem Community College women's basketball team endured a challenging night on the road, falling 89–39 to a strong Mercer County Community College squad. Despite the tough outcome, several Mighty Oaks players delivered noteworthy performances.
Forward Kasey Oliver led Salem in scoring, finishing with 13 points on an efficient 5-of-11 shooting, providing steady offense throughout the game. Guard Tanijya Shaw added 12 points, giving the Oaks another reliable scoring option in the backcourt.
On the boards, Jayda Hunter turned in one of the team's strongest efforts of the night, pulling down 12 rebounds, including 4 offensive and 8 defensive. Her presence inside helped Salem compete physically despite Mercer's offensive pace.
Mercer County controlled the tempo early, building a sizeable lead and maintaining pressure on both ends of the floor. Salem continued to battle, showing resilience and gaining valuable early-season experience against a high-powered opponent.
The Mighty Oaks will look to regroup quickly as they prepare for their next challenge. Salem returns home to host Palm Beach State College on Thursday, November 20 at 5:00 PM at the DuPont Fieldhouse.
