Salem Women Fall to CCBC-Catonsville, 81–64
Catonsville, MD. - The Salem Community College women's basketball team dropped an 81–64 decision to CCBC-Catonsville on the road, moving the Mighty Oaks to 1–8 on the season.
Salem battled throughout the contest but was unable to overcome CCBC's consistent scoring and rebounding advantage. Despite the loss, the Mighty Oaks saw strong individual performances, particularly from the starting lineup.
Tanijya Shaw led Salem with a game-high 20 points, attacking the basket and finishing 6-for-8 from the free throw line while adding seven rebounds in 37 minutes of action. Daniella Gustin delivered an efficient outing, scoring 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting and pulling down a team-high 12 rebounds to record a double-double.
Kasey Oliver chipped in six points and five rebounds, while Ray'Nescia King contributed five points and added defensive pressure with five steals. Jayda Hunter anchored the paint with seven rebounds and provided defensive energy over 40 minutes.
Off the bench, Justine Cardona added five points and five rebounds, while Paula Wilson scored five points and grabbed five boards in reserve minutes.
The Mighty Oaks will look to regroup as they hit the road again, traveling to Cecil College for their next matchup on December 20 at 11:00 a.m.
