Carneys Point,NJ. - The Salem Community College women's basketball team suffered a 94-54 setback to Mercer County Community College on Wednesday night, as the Mighty Oaks moved to 2-12 on the season.
Salem was led offensively by Tanijya Shaw, who turned in a strong all-around performance with a team-high 21 points on 10-of-17 shooting while adding four steals. Paula Wilson also delivered an impressive effort, scoring 20 points and knocking down five three-pointers to pace Salem from the perimeter.
In the paint, Daniella Gustin contributed on the glass with seven rebounds, while Ray'Nescia King filled up the stat sheet with eight assists, five rebounds, and two steals. Kasey Oliver added five rebounds, and Breanne Ruhl provided solid minutes off the bench.
Despite several individual highlights, Mercer County used its depth and consistent scoring to pull away and secure the win.
The Mighty Oaks will look to bounce back in their next contest when they host RCSJ-Gloucester on Thursday, January 22, with tipoff scheduled for 7:00 PM.
