Carneys Point, NJ - The Salem Community College women's basketball team came up short at home on Saturday afternoon, falling to Raritan Valley Community College by a final score of 72–35. With the loss, the Mighty Oaks move to 3–14 on the season.
Raritan Valley set the tone early with defensive pressure and efficient scoring, creating separation as the game progressed. Salem battled throughout but struggled to find consistent offense against the Raritan's aggressive approach.
Despite the setback, Salem saw strong individual efforts. Tanijya Shaw led all Mighty Oaks with 20 points, adding nine rebounds while logging heavy minutes. Kasey Oliver chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds, while Daniella Gustin provided a spark off the bench with 12 rebounds to go along with two points.
Salem also received contributions across the stat sheet from Ray'Nescia King, who added four rebounds and five steals, and Paula Wilson, who pulled down two rebounds while anchoring the frontcourt defensively.
The Mighty Oaks will look to bounce back quickly as they return home to host Union College of New Jersey on Tuesday, February 3, with tip-off scheduled for 5:00 PM.
