Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College women's basketball team suffered a setback at home Wednesday night, falling to Union College of New Jersey by a final score of 105–39.
Union jumped out to an early lead and maintained control throughout the contest, using pressure defense and efficient scoring to build separation. Salem continued to battle despite the deficit, working to execute offensively and compete on the glass against a deep Union lineup.
Kasey Oliver led the Mighty Oaks with 13 points, adding five rebounds. Ray'Nescia King contributed eight points and four assists, while Jayda Hunter chipped in six points, eight rebounds, two steals, and a block. Tanijya Shaw filled the stat sheet with six points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Off the bench, Justine Cardona scored five points and grabbed four rebounds, and Daniella Gustin pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.
With the loss, Salem falls to 3–15 on the season. The Mighty Oaks will look to regroup and bounce back as they return home to host Delaware Technical Community College on Thursday, February 5.
