Haskie Sets School Record as Cross Country Competes at Cougar Chase Invite
CALDWELL, NJ. - Salem Community College continued its re-establishing cross-country season with a strong showing at the Cougar Chase Invitational, hosted by Caldwell University. The meet marked another milestone for the program as freshman runner Chantelle Haskie etched her name into the SCC record books.
Haskie delivered a standout performance in the women's 5,000-meter race, finishing with a time of 32:15.50. Her effort set a new school record, surpassing the previous mark of 32:24.60, established by Emily McGlamery.
"Chantelle ran with determination from start to finish," said head coach Ashley Johnson. "Breaking a record this early in the program's history shows the potential we have moving forward."
The Cougar Chase Invite brought together a competitive field of runners from across the region, giving Salem Community College valuable experience against established programs. Despite being new to the collegiate cross-country scene, the Mighty Oaks continue to build momentum with each race.
Haskie's achievement highlights the rapid growth of the team in its debut season. Results for the rest of the Mighty Oaks and the entire meet can be found HERE.
