Carneys Point, NJ. - Salem Community College is excited to announce Ashley Johnson the newest addition to the Mighty Oaks Athletics coaching staff. Coach Ashley Johnson joins the Mighty Oaks as the head men's and women's cross country coach.  Johnson brings leadership and energy to the program, aiming to take the team to new heights.

"We are excited to welcome Ashley Johnson to Salem Community College", said Athletic Director Bob Hughes. "Ashley brings to the Mighty Oaks a wealth of cross country coaching and training experience, as well as local ties to our community and a great understanding of college athletics. Her energy and enthusiasm will benefit our student-athletes in countless ways as we restart this program this Fall".

Coach Johnson comes to Salem after a year as an head coach at Chestnut Hill College for the women's and men's cross country teams.  Prior to Chestnut Hill, Johns served an assistant coach at Rowan University for the 2024 season with the Women's track and field team placing second in the New Jersey Athletic Conference, and third in the All-Atlantic Region Championships. Johnson has coach at all level of athletics starting her career as the head coach at Pennsville Memorial high School as well as being an assistant coach at Clearview High School.  While at Pennsville the girl's cross country team won Salem County title, the first cross country title in school history, and also qualified for the New Jersey state championship meet. 

Coach Johnson is a higher ed employee at RCSJ-Gloucester.

Johnson is a graduate of Rowan University, with a Bachelor's Degree in Health and physical Education and is currently pursuing a master's degree in higher education administration from Wilmington University.  While at Rowan, Johnson was part of two NJAC championship teams earning several all-conference honors throughout her career and winning the 5,000 meter individual title at the 2010 NJAC Outdoor Track and Field Championship.

Mighty Oaks Cross Country is looking to re-start in the Fall of 2025 and Coach Johnson is currently out recruiting her roster.
